The design a site was built on is a starting point, not a commitment. You can move your site to a different design later, and Buildly carries your words, photographs and details across. Before anything changes, it shows you exactly what will move, what will be rewritten, and what will be left behind.
Where to switch
- Open your site and choose Appearance, then the Design tab.
- Browse the designs. Each has a See an example link so you can see it on a finished site first.
- Choose Use this design. Buildly checks what would change and shows you a report.
- Read the report, then confirm with Switch to and the design’s name, or cancel. Nothing changes until you confirm.
Only Owners and Admins can switch designs. The Templates page in your organization lists the designs available to you, but the switch itself happens on the site’s Appearance screen.
What stays exactly as it is
- Your business details, photographs and logo
- Your blog posts, services and projects
- Every page’s web address, menu entry and search listing
What moves, and what is rewritten
Text from a section that has a matching place in the new design is carried into it. Anything you wrote by hand keeps you as its author, so it is never rewritten. Where the new design has a section your old one did not, Buildly writes it for you after the switch - that writing is AI work and may use a few sparks.
Section order and layout choices go back to the new design’s own. Colors and fonts you picked are kept where the new design offers them.
When a switch is refused
A switch never throws away something a person wrote. Buildly will not switch if:
- Text you or Juno wrote would have nowhere to go in the new design
- Your blog, services or projects would lose the page they live on
- A build is already running on the site
The report lists pages the new design adds and pages it does not have. A page the new design does not have is removed in the switch, so read that part of the report carefully.
If your site is live
Visitors see the new design as soon as you confirm, and any empty parts fill in over the next few minutes. If you would rather check everything first, switch at a quiet time and open the site straight afterwards.
