Your own photographs are the best ones your site can have: your team, your work, your premises. Putting them on your site should never cost you anything, and it does not. Uploading a photo uses no sparks.
Why it is free
Sparks measure AI work - Buildly writing or drawing something for you. Storing and showing a photo you took is not AI work, so it is not measured. We never want anyone deleting good photos to save money. The same goes for writing and editing text yourself, and for publishing your site.
Where you can add your own photos
- In the editor. Click a picture on a page and choose Change picture to replace it with one of your own.
- On a project. When you add or edit a project on the Projects screen, you can add its photographs.
- On a blog post. Each post can have a cover photo.
- Your logo. You can upload it during the interview, or replace it later in the editor.
Photos can be JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF files. If a file is too large, or your organization has reached its photo storage limit, the upload tells you so.
One thing that can use sparks
When you add photos to a project, Buildly then looks over that project’s photos to choose which to show. That step is AI work, so it goes through sparks like any other. The upload itself is still free: if your balance cannot cover the step, your photo is added anyway.
What does cost sparks
Asking Buildly to draw a new photograph for a spot on your site uses sparks, because an AI model draws it. A site build may also draw some of its photographs, and the sparks for those are set aside during the build, with any not used given back. See What is a spark? for the full list.
Your privacy
When you upload a photograph, Buildly removes the hidden information cameras and phones store inside it, such as the location where it was taken, before it is saved. Visitors see the picture, and nothing else.
