Sparks are how Buildly measures AI work. Whenever Buildly writes or draws something for you, it uses sparks from your organization’s balance. Anything you do yourself - and everything involved in simply having a site - does not.
What uses sparks
- Building a site from your interview
- Rewriting a section, a page, or a whole site
- Drawing a new photograph for a spot on your site
- Writing the parts of a site that a build left empty
- Writing the sections a new design adds when you switch designs
- Choosing which of the photographs you add to a project to show
How many sparks each of these uses is set by Buildly’s pricing rather than fixed in the product. Plans and what they include are on the pricing page.
What never uses sparks
The Sparks page lists these as free, always:
- Uploading your own photos
- Writing and editing text yourself
- Publishing your site
Your interview with Juno is free too, typed or spoken, and so is chatting with Juno in your dashboard. The idea behind the line is simple: sparks pay for AI work, never for keeping your business online. There is more on that in What a spark actually measures.
Whose sparks they are
Sparks belong to your organization, not to one person. Everyone shares the same balance. Owners, Admins and Editors can use sparks; Viewers cannot. Only the Owner can buy more.
Where sparks come from
- Your monthly allowance. Your plan adds an allowance at the start of each month. During a trial you get trial sparks instead, and the monthly allowance starts when the trial ends.
- Sparks you buy. The Owner can buy packs of sparks at any time - see Topping up mid-month.
Seeing your balance
Open Sparks in your organization’s menu. Every member can see it. The page shows how many you have Left to spend, and a history called Where they went, listing what each spark was for and how many were left afterwards.
Why some sparks show as running
Before AI work starts, Buildly sets the sparks for it aside, so two jobs can never spend the same sparks. While the work runs, those sparks show as Running. When it finishes they show as Done. A build sets aside sparks for every photograph it might draw and gives back the ones it did not use. Sparks given back show as Refunded.
