Every Buildly account has a second sign-in step, so that a stolen or guessed password is not enough to get into your sites. You set it up the first time you sign in, and you can add or remove methods later.
The two methods
- A passkey - recommended. Your device confirms it is you with your fingerprint, face, or screen lock. There is nothing to type, and it cannot be phished.
- An authenticator app - an app on your phone that shows a fresh code every few seconds.
Setting it up the first time
After your first sign-in, Buildly shows Protect your account. Choose one:
- Use a passkey, and follow your browser’s prompt. If your browser cannot make passkeys, the option says so - use an authenticator app instead.
- Use an authenticator app. Scan the code shown with the app, or enter the key by hand if you cannot scan. Type the code the app shows into Six-digit code from the app and choose Turn on.
Next you are given recovery codes to keep - see Recovery codes.
Adding or removing a method later
- Open Settings and go to Sign-in and security.
- Under Second step at sign-in, each method is listed with the date it was added.
- Choose Add a passkey or Add an authenticator app to add one, or Remove to take one away.
You cannot remove your last method: add another first. Having two - a passkey on your computer and an authenticator app on your phone, say - means losing one device does not lock you out. Buildly emails you whenever your sign-in methods change, so you would know if someone else changed them.
