Recovery codes are your way in if you lose the device with your passkey or authenticator app. Each code works once, in place of your second sign-in step.
Saving them
When you first set up your second step, Buildly shows Save your recovery codes.
- Choose Copy or Download, and keep them somewhere safe that is not the device you sign in with - a password manager, or printed and put away.
- Tick I have saved these codes somewhere safe.
- Choose Continue.
Keep them safe before you continue - they are as good as your second step.
Using one
- Sign in with your email and password as usual.
- On Confirm it is you, choose Use a recovery code.
- Enter one code in Recovery code and choose Continue.
Once you are in, add a new passkey or authenticator app straight away - see Passkeys and authenticator apps.
Making new codes
In Settings, under Sign-in and security, Recovery codes shows how many you have left. Choose Make new codes when you are running low or think someone else may have seen them. The old codes stop working as soon as new ones are made.
